About Back and Body Works

My Mission

My Mission

My Mission

My mission is to empower individuals to take control of their health and wellness through education, support, and personalized care. I believe that everyone has the potential to live a vibrant and fulfilling life, and am here to help facilitate that goal.

About Me

My Mission

My Mission

Though my continuing education experiences have covered many different topics, currently  I primarily practice in John Barnes Myofascial Release techniques, Upledger CranioSacral Therapy, and traditional massage. I also enjoy using sound healing techniques and aromatherapy at times during my work.

Offered Therapy Styles

Traditional Massage

Often referred to as Swedish massage this style uses rubbing, kneading, stroking and tapping of muscles to relieve stress, relax the body and reduce pain.

Myofascial Release (John F. Barnes approach)

Myofascial Release techniques use gentle pressure applied for sustained time to facilitate the release of fascial restrictions. These releases allow the body to “unwind” in order to achieve relief and progress toward improved function.

CranioSacral Therapy (Upledger Institute taught)

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system, which has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more. CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to such somatic conditions as Post Traumatic Stress, depression and anxiety.

Deep Tissue Massage with Trigger Point Therapy

This work involves massage using deeper pressure strokes and specific pressure applied to trigger points in order to facilitate the relaxing of muscle tension. Though the application can create discomfort it is particularly helpful for a client who has trigger points. A trigger point is a tight area within a muscle that can cause pain. Trigger points are also often associated with decreased circulation, increased sensitivity of the nerve and muscle contraction or spasm. In addition, they can cause local tenderness as well as referred pain in other parts of the body.

Sound Therapy

Come join us for a sound bath given at yoga studios, wellness centers, or schedule a small group session at  your private residence. Other sound therapies can be incorporated into a private one on one massage therapy sessions.

Sound vibrations are known to affect the body at a cellular level and can have a positive effect on health. A sound bath uses various instruments to immerse you in ambient sounds designed to resonate with your body. Instruments such as crystal and metal singing bowls, gong, chimes, and tuning forks are played at frequencies intended to help restore your body, reduce stress, and clear your mind while you stretch and rest.

More about Sound Therapy
